Thrift Store

The Good Samaritan Thrift Store is the largest in the Helena area and continues to grow to meet the needs of the community.  The Store sells everything from furniture and clothing to knick-knacks and sporting goods at great prices.  The store employs over 30 full and part-time employees.
We pick-up donations from homes and businesses at not cost or donations can be dropped off at the loading dock during store hours.  The Thrift Store Ministry also has a Recycling Program where clothing and other items are shipped regularly to support our assistance ministries.

  Assistance Ministry
Our Assistance to the Need Ministry serves as one of the largest providers of financial assistance in the Helena area.  The ministry provides between $2,000 to $4,000 in financial assistance weekly and $30,000 to $40,000 of in-store merchandise annually.
Each year the ministry serves over 1,000 individuals and/or families.  These services include but are not limited to: rent payments, emergency shelter, utility bills, gasoline vouchers for emergency medical appointments, prescriptions, medical, dental and vision assistance, infant care needs, home and auto repairs, clothing, furniture, household items and other items.
Please ask our Office Manger about the “Adopt-an-appliance” ministry where we match working appliances with individuals in need.
An Assistance Coordinator is normally available Mon-Fri, 10:00 AM till 2:00 PM.
 Vocational Training
Good Samaritan serves as a vocational training site for many employees and volunteers.  We offer a structured work environment that helps individuals to bring out "hidden talents", build self-esteem and prepare them to move on to other positions in the community.  Many of our employees started as vocational trainees.
Good Samaritan works with various agencies including Job Training Partnership, and the State Voc-Rehab office.
 Volunteers
Every day people come to Good Samaritan and give us their time.  From June2011 to April 2012 we have had over 12,000 volunteer hours and 500 volunteers.
We have volunteers through many different agencies! We partner with RSVP, CTI, Helena Pre-Release, Project for Alternative Learning, Helena School District, Local Churches and their youth groups, From the Heart, MT Youth Challenge, Helena Housing Authority, Community Service and Seminary Programs.
